"What's taking so long?" Jeremy asked, annoyed. His friend, Matt was alternating between pacing and looking out of the windows. Sid was doing the best he could with the tools he had, but this was no dead body. The gun in the room wasn't helping matters either. At least they had released his hands so he could work on the young injured teen. So far, all he'd been able to do is slow the bleeding but this Jeremy character actually wanted the bullet out. Which Sid had told him was not a good idea...and Jeremy put the gun to his temple again and Sid decided to keep his mouth shut. He didn't like the unsanitary conditions for this poor kid either. The sawdust was everywhere and they were only working on a workbench in the middle of a warehouse.
Sid sighed with his tweezers in hand. "Its in there pretty deep..." he paused before adding as gently as he could, "He really should see a proper doctor..."
"I told you so," Matt jumped in, walking back from his umteenth check of the windows. "The guy's not a real doctor."
"What does that matter?" Jeremy retorted back. "Doctor's a doctor and what were we gonna do? Take him to a hospital? One look at him and the cops would be all over us."
"Your fault he came with us anyway," Matt said with a scowl. "That kid brother of yours doesn't know when to stay away from a fight." Jeremy didn't take that well at all. He jumped up from his seat and got in Matt's face. "You leave him out of this, ok? We're just gonna get him patched up and then we're all bookin it to Canada. Right?"
Matt grudgingly agreed. "I know, I just think that we've got to hurry. I mean, what if he doesn't mak..."
"He's gonna make it," Jeremy cut him off. He gave Sid a glare, fingering the handle of his gun meaningfully. "He's gonna make it."
"Good plan," Sid said before returning to his delicate work. One that doesn't include me apparently, he thought to himself. He'd seen their faces, there was no way they would keep him around afterward. The kit he had did have a few sharp objects, but the other two men had guns. Sid wiped a drop of sweat off of his forehead and tried to concentrate on keeping the boy in front of him alive...

Usefulness

[locked from everyone again]

Sid's head ached like it was stuffed with cotton. He tried to open his eyes but it took quite an effort. He wasn't sure what they had pumped into him, but it was taking it's sweet time to wear off. He finally got his lids open and found out he wasn't blindfolded anymore. The duct tape was off his mouth too. As his eyes slowly focused, he realized that overpowering smell was of...wood. Freshly cut wood.
He was laying on an old matress on the cement floor of some sort of warehouse. All around him was stacks and boxes of different cut pieces of wood. Sid thought about getting up, but that was easier said than done. His hands and feet were still ducttaped quite securely.
A light step was heard from behind his head and a hand mussed with his hair before the person came into view. Sid found himself looking at the amused face of one of his kidnappers. He looked to be about 25ish with red hair gelled to the front like the kids are doing nowadays. "Hey, doc, you up yet?" he said almost playfully. It would have been playful...if Sid hadn't also noticed the gun stuffed in the young man's belt. Sid managed to turn slightly on his side with a groan at his slowly clearing head. The other kidnapper had just strode into the room, arms folded as he surveyed Sid on the floor. "Hey, Matt, he's awake," the red haired one said with a dangerous smile. "That's good," his dark haired friend said in a low tone, as if he still wasn't sure about all of this.
"Of course that's good," Jeremy said.
"What...what do you want with me?" Sid asked when he finally got his tongue unstuck from his dry mouth. The red haired one smirked and leaned in to take hold of Sid's collar. "We got a...job...for you, doc. Com'n, get up." The two men hauled Sid to his feet and one of them cut the duct tape that held his ankles. They walked him rather roughly across the warehouse and around some more boxes.
There on a plain workbench was another person. A young kid, couldn't be more than 18, laying on his back quite still. Sid was dragged over to him. He could see the kid was wounded really badly in the right chest but he was still breathing. The blood had dried onto his shirt where an ominous bullet hole was in the middle of it.
"Help him," Jeremy said matter-of-factly, as if it was like fixing the kitchen sink. Sid was confused. "I'm not a medical doctor, I work with dead people..." his sentence was cut off by the click of a gun being cocked against the side of his head. The amusement was gone from Jeremy's voice. "You HELP him...or else..."
Sid tried to calm his heart rate down as he nodded very slowly against the gun barrel set against the back of his head. "Ok, ok, I'll do it..."
The other kidnapper, one named Matt, shoved one of the coroner's kits at Sid as Jeremy removed the gun from his head and took an observers position off to the side. The gun still dangled from his hand as he sat on one of the metal chairs that had been put there for the workers.
Sid swallowed a bit and opened the kit, trying to think of what to do next. There was no way to tell what was outside, they could have been anywhere by now. He couldn't hear any workers or machinery going anywhere around him. Wherever he was, he thought as he pulled out the small first aid kit from the bag, he knew his friends were out there looking for him by now. He just hoped they would be able to get to him in time. He wasn't entirely sure he was going to be able to do anything for this kid. He'd lost a lot of blood and probably in shock for who knows how long it had been. And he wasn't entirely sure they were going to let him live anyway even if he did help him...

The shop was only slightly busy for this time of day. Four of the five lifts had working projects on them and there were a few off to the side that were getting paint jobs. The boss man, Robert Slade, was looking over his clipboard at a dark car that just drove up. He frowned as the CSI's got out and started looking up and down at the building before coming in. Hope this isn't going to be bad for business, he thought as he waited near his office.

The cars on the lifts were being checked, inspected, and a couple of dents fixed. A two door custom convertible and a flower shop van are being painted over in the corner. The convertible is almost done, the van is being painted from black to white, a job that's almost half done. The men working on the van are scraping some lettering off the side.

I'm keeping track of the threads I can find here: http://coroner-glasses.livejournal.com/6616.html
...because I'm OCD like that. If I miss any, just shoot me a comment to that post.

- Sid is currently in transit, I'm holding off on the next part of his story for now
- Wife Lillian and everyone in the lab who had Sid's phone number got a lovely taunting picture of Sid trussed up and blindfolded before his phone was tossed and then found and processed by [livejournal.com profile] pressingcharges
- Auto body shop needs investigated, I can always play out the responses from the people there if needed DONE!
- Johnny's apartment can be searched...but there's not going to be anybody there and they're not heading there (edit:) but there may be some evidence there now.

And btw, you guys all rock muchly.

Lillian was sitting on a bench just outside the CSI lab. She couldn't go home, not just yet. There wouldn't be any point. She'd just be worrying about Sid there, she might as well worry here where it gave the appearance of doing any good.
Michelle was taking it harder than she was. Lillian had tried to comfort her girl but she hadn't said a word since they'd learned about her dad's disappearance. For right now, Michelle was sitting on the other end of the bench, playing her handheld video game with a scowl on her face at the game. Just barely a teenager, Michelle really didn't want to be coddled or babied anymore...and she was so much like Sid, Lillian thought to herself. So practical and analytical at times. Her other daughter Samantha had gotten more of her own genes in the artistic field...Lillian still hadn't called her. She really didn't know what she could say...

Her cellphone buzzed in her hands and Lillian jumped up in surprise and hope. Instead the hope died quickly and she gasped in shock at the picture sent to her phone: Sid bound with duct tape and blindfolded in the back of a van.

Lillian could only cry at that point with Michelle leaving her game to hold onto her arm as if to comfort her. She didn't even hear the others in the lab as their cellphones buzzed or rang with the same photo being sent to them at the same time...no ransom demands, just the picture...

Kidnapped

[locked to everyone]
There was a sense of movement as Sid began to come around. He couldn't see anything...it took him awhile to realize he was blindfolded. Something was restricting his wrists and ankles, felt like duct tape. He let out a moan trying to shake his head and clear his thoughts.
"Look who's awake," said a sarcastic male voice near him. It was then that he realized he was in the back of a car going somewhere. "Hey, you forgot to tape his mouth," another man said, Sid could hear him in the driver's seat. The first man ripped off a piece of tape and covered Sid's mouth before he could protest. The cobwebs were starting to clear and he remembered what had happened in the morgue. He had to escape somehow...
"Whaddya think? A souvenier for his friends?" the first man said with an amused voice. Sid was not amused. He heard the fake camera click sound his phone always made as the man took his picture of him bound and blindfolded in the back of the van. "That's a keeper," the kidnapper said with a smile. He hit send to everyone's cellphones who work with Sid in the lab before opening the window and chucking the cellphone to the curb. "You're messed up, man," his driving friend said.
"They'll never find us, I'm telling you. We'll be done in no time and blow this town before they even get within ten blocks of us."
His partner scowled a bit but agreed. "If you say so. But don't blame me if this turns sour."
Sid was testing his bonds. They had duct taped his wrists together and then duct taped that to something in the back of the van so he was half sitting up, half leaning against the side of the van. "Hey, he's moving around back there too much," the driver said, much to Sid's chagrin. There was a pause, Sid got the impression something was happening, he just wished he could see it. "This should hold him till we get there," the sarcastic one said and Sid felt a hypodermic hit home in his shoulder. Rats, not again, he thought groggily as he passed out again...

[locked to everyone]The drawer slid shut with a click that sounded almost like a sigh. Sid seconded that as he shut the door on the last autopsy for the day. He checked his watch, just after midnight. He had to get his tables cleaned off first before taking off for the night. He was going to be the last one going out, he waved to one of the interns as they shouldered their bag and said goodnight.

Lillian would already be asleep by now but she'd most likely wake when he came in, like she did every night. She said she always liked waiting up for him, despite his protests, she liked to hear about his day before they went to bed. He smiled to himself, thinking of her as he picked up the high grade disinfectant spray bottle and pulled on some gloves. That last body had been a little messy, it had been dug up after being dead for at least three days time. As Mac had said, nothing like the smell of decomp in the morning.

He pulled on a fresh pair of gloves as he spritzed the table a couple of times. As he went to wipe it down with a rag, he thought he heard something. It sounded like the morgue door opening. Sid looked over but it was closing and there was no one there. "Hello?" he said. "Anyone there?" Nobody answered.

Sid shook his head and continued rubbing down the table. "You're getting soft, Mr. Coroner. They'll be calling you Scared Sid in no time at this rate..." The floor squeaked behind him as someone stepped on it. Sid made a move to turn around but he was too slow. A pair of rough hands grabbed him from behind, one arm around his neck. Sid dropped the cleaning equipment to the floor, grabbing at the arm to try and loosen it as he struggled with his attacker. He tried to reach for a tray of instruments to find something to defend himself with...but he was too far away. A sweet smelling cloth was clamped over his nose and mouth...there was another figure coming towards them that said "Hurry up, they'll be coming in a minute..."

That's the last Sid remembered as he slumped to the floor. One of the men picked him up in a fireman's hold and plunked him down on one of the stretchers. Their clothes said they were part of the coroner's team for picking up bodies at a crime scene. These two were taking a body out though. Sid was covered with a sheet and wheeled out of the morgue. A little while later, the coroner's van left the CSI building with the only real coroner out cold in the back.[/locked]

The morgue is empty. The tables aren't cleaned, cleanser and rag on the floor. Couple of gloved handprints in the dirt left on the table where Sid was struggling. A few hairs left on the floor, one red where Sid's assailant was standing, one black over by the morgue door. Around 3am, Lillian calls Mac to ask where Sid is keeping himself so late as he's never been late before. Sid's pager was left in the morgue and he's not answering his cellphone. The coroner van is missing along with a couple of kits and jumpsuits.

OOC: I've had this idea for awhile now, it just had to be written. :)
EDIT: I'm going off to work now, I'll tag any comments when I return. I wrote out most of the story so anyone who comments will know where evidence might be.
