It was a quiet night. The kind Sid would generally pass by reading a good book or chatting with the wife and kids over dinner. But the kids were grown up and away at college so it was even more quiet than usual. Lillian was upstairs working on her nails and watching a movie that Sid didn't care much for, so he was sprawled out on the couch in front of the fireplace. He'd intended to read the latest reports on bruising post mortem but it was so comfy where he was, he was soon snoring away, his glasses off to one side, fast asleep.
